Create and manage your product category taxonomy for better shop organization.
Product categories help you organize your inventory so customers can browse your shop by type. A well-structured category taxonomy makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for and increases conversion rates.
Categories in SalesWhiz are managed independently from products — you create categories first, then assign products to them.
Navigate to Dashboard > Inventories > Categories to manage your category list.
Click the Add Category button at the top of the category list.
Type a clear, descriptive name for the category (e.g., "Women's Clothing", "Electronics").
A URL-friendly slug is generated automatically from the name. You can customize it.
Click Save. The category appears immediately and is available for product assignment.
Assign products to categories in the product editor. Open Dashboard > Inventories, select a product, and choose a category from the Category dropdown. A product can belong to one category.
Products without a category are still visible in your shop under an All Products view but will not appear when customers filter by category.
Your public shop URL includes a category filter. Customers can browse all products or filter by a specific category. Each category has its own URL path based on the slug, which you can share directly.
Example: your-shop-url/category/electronics shows only products assigned to the Electronics category.
Edit a category name or slug by clicking the edit icon on the category list. Changes propagate immediately to your shop.
Deleting a category does not delete the products assigned to it — those products become uncategorized and remain visible in your shop under the All Products view.
