Create and connect your Telegram bot to SalesWhiz.
Telegram bots provide a powerful way to automate customer interactions. By connecting a Telegram bot to SalesWhiz, you can handle customer messages, automate responses with AI, and manage conversations alongside your WhatsApp messages.
Telegram setup is significantly faster than WhatsApp — most users complete it in under 10 minutes.
The requirements for Telegram integration are minimal compared to WhatsApp. You just need:
Any Telegram account (personal or business) can create and manage bots.
BotFather is Telegram's official bot for creating and managing bots. Search for "@BotFather" in Telegram.
Open Telegram and search for "@BotFather". Start a chat and send the /newbot command. BotFather will guide you through the creation process.
After creating the bot, BotFather will provide a bot token — a long string that looks like "1234567890:ABCdefGHIjklMNOpqrsTUVwxyz". Copy this token carefully.
Go to Dashboard > Settings > Channels > Telegram in SalesWhiz. Paste your bot token into the token field and click Save. SalesWhiz will validate the token and display your bot's information.
Search for your bot username in Telegram and send the /start command. The message should appear in your SalesWhiz Inbox. Try sending a few messages to verify everything works correctly.
Common issues and their solutions:
Check that the bot token is correct. Verify the integration is toggled ON in SalesWhiz. Ensure the webhook is properly set.
Double-check the token from BotFather. Make sure there are no extra spaces. Generate a new token if necessary using the /token command.
Verify your SalesWhiz server is publicly accessible. Check that the SSL certificate is valid (Telegram requires HTTPS).
Check the webhook is active using /getWebhookInfo. Remove and re-add the webhook in SalesWhiz settings.
